Day 1:
today was the day. we didn't do much because we didn't have our screwdrivers. we where introduced to our supervisor, Dan treacy, he explained to us what we were going to do for the week. once we all got settled in and were told of the rules we went to get our computers. we then had lunch. after lunch we begin to take the computers apart. if there was something wrong with them we where told to try and find out for our selves what the problem was. my computer had a problem with the motherboard unfortunately Dan didn't have any spare motherboards that day.
Day 2:
Today we got more involved. we continued on pulling apart our computers and trying to find and fix any problems the computer has. it took us awhile to find out exactly what was wrong, some people were lucky to have working computers.
Day 3:
Today we started to add software to our computers. we installed linux ubuntu onto our computers this took some time for my computer because for some reason it wouldn't boot once the software was installed.
Day 4:
Today my computer finally would boot after installing Linux Ubuntu. we all started updating the ubuntu version. firstly we did dapper, we then tried doing edgy which unfortunately didn't work. so we tryed installing Feisty. Unfortunately feisty only worked on 2 computers so we had to work with what we got. at the end of the day Dan told us our task for tomorrow which was to add a mp3 player , ripper , DVD player, customise a logo for the log in screen, change the background, enable system tray.
Day 5:
Today we got started on completing the tasks. it took awhile because linux is confusing nearly everything has to be done in "terminal". i got the mp3 player working and the ripper but towards the end of the day my Internet stopped working and Dan told me to try and find out whats wrong for my self. unfortunately i never did.
